Due Date: Thursday, November 9

NOTE - If you need a camera email Marianela ASAP.

Project #3 - Animation/iMovie

Objective - to make a simple animation from "still images" using imovie.

What you will need:

  • digital camera with tripod
  • remote shutter control (not essential)
  • Photoshop (in the lab)
  • interface to mac computer
  • access to imovie (use mac's in the lab or your own)
  • sound files you can import (from CD, mp3, ...)
  • cd burner to save the quicktime movie you make

Steps

  1. create a very short scenario or story ("dog eating food")
  2. draw, shoot, create pictures showing "increments of time" (you don't really need 24/second)
  3. process, edit, crop, adjust each picture in Photoshop as needed
  4. capture these pictures and load into imovie
  5. load audio track into imovie
  6. adjust start time and duration for each still image
  7. playback your animation and adjust until you like it
  8. create quicktime movie (render)
  9. burn movie and project folder to CDROM to submit

Write a 2 page (max) document outlining your procedures (Work Log like Project 2). What worked well? What were the limitations or frustrations? What issues emerged regarding image resolution, image processing/editing, timing and layout, connecting the music/audio tracks to the movie? Animation vs video?
